Richard Darby began his study of photography over 40 years ago. As a college student, he majored in Anthropology with a minor in photography. After college, Richard Darby had many different occupations – VISTA Volunteer, director of an international adoption agency, graphic artist, art director, marketing director, consultant, commercial photographer, and web designer. But throughout his career, photography has been his passion and all of those occupations have had an effect on his photography.

Although he primarily now shoots with a digital camera, on occasion he also shoots small, medium and large format fim. PhotoShop is considered an integral part of the design process.

He has won numerous awards for his commercial and art photography. His photographs have been published in Industrial Photography, Photographer's Forum, Accessories Magazine, American Photography Magazine, Digital Design, Machine Design News, Fire Prevention Magazine, Travelware Magazine and Financial Resources. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts.
